Fire Volunteers in the Pack

Well it was a bright sunny Sunday with a hint of rain in the background, cool and bright so we all headed off to the park in Devonport. Allen and I bowled up just as everyone was arriving, you can see from the photos we all tried to stay in the little gazebo as much as possible until we were organised. Geoff and Tracy had organised a great day, first of all there was kite flying. A bit of soccer, not too many takers for that, and then there was the rounders. This was played with a ball on a stick and was great fun. Even with a static ball there were still some great air shots, not all of which I captured on digital, but here we are for your entertainment.

After the fun, there was a treasure hunt with trail that led us out of the path and up Mount Victoria, for a drink (soft for the kids and hard for the adults) and then down the hill to reconnoiter at the carpark. Off to another park down by the beach about 5pm for a well deserved fish and chip tea, with bubbly.

All in all a great day, and one that the kids will remember for quite some time.

During the day I had a sore foot, that progressively got worse and worse, but I still managed to stay the course. However over the next couple of weeks it got really sore and I had to get it seen to. Now as you are aware I am not a fan of traditional medicine, especially for something like a soft tissue injury, I had managed to injure my middle toes on my right foot some time ago, and I thought it had healed. However climbing mountains (small) and running around the office in high heeled boots put quite some pressure on the tootsies, and I had to get it seen to. Linda recommended a woman called Annette who did Bowen technique and neurolink. Hmmm... Well its worked, however climbing down from the high heels helped too. I have just invested about $250 in a couple of pairs of shoes that I can wear to work that look quite fashionable, but are flat and comfortable. Who knows I may be able to walk to work a couple of days a week. That would please those of you who are interested in my health no end. I probably will have to do some work on the body, as some of the weight I lost for Mel and Matts wonderful wedding has crept back on, and my cholesterol has gone up again. We had a health check on Friday for insurance so I will no doubt have to take stock and move the body more.

Its the last day of May and we had only had a couple of days rain this month, its been bright and clear and quite frankly fabulous weather for this time of year. Everything is still growing (dammn) and it looks like a couple of hours in the garden are in order. Last weekend we transplanted a few natives (plants that is not maori) into the bottom garden where I am hoping to develop a bush and wind break. Its amazing how much that willow protected us from the elements.

Gossip from the Kelly Whittinghams.
Shelly had an operation on her knee to remove the wire put in from when she had it put back together 10 years ago, the wire was playing up a bit, but it seems to be OK now. Nothing stops the wee shelia, she even made it to a Her Business meeting the next day with me. She has just rung to tell me that she had a showing of a house with a man who had two broken arms, she couldn't get down the steps and he couldn't open any doors. Only Shells could get so complicated and come up smiling. Hope he buys a house of her.
Mike is back in Auckland and looking for a job, but he may go and live in Tauranga with Paul for a while, whatever happens they will probably live together.

Love Mel and Matts blog, and have added the links to both the Calls and the Nobs sites.

And last but not least the Corolla got a WOF! So it will still be here for Xmas!! What a relief!

We are looking forward to going to Rarotonga for Annette and Keiths wedding, but thats the end of June, so will probably manage to update this before then.

Oh very nice and quite a big read, really Mother you're getting into the swing of this blogging ain't you :-)

Well, well, well and some new words for me to had never heard of 'reconnoiter' but it's always refreshing to learn a little language from you.

Glad your weather has been so good and please send it over when you've finished with it, London is still horrid but me and Missy are having fun.
